Editing, Leadership and Team Building
As the current Sports Editor and former News Editor, I’ve led diverse teams of writers through the full process—from pitching and reporting to editing and layout. I prioritize clear communication, accountability, and collaboration, especially during high-pressure production nights. Whether mentoring a first-time reporter or refining a complex piece, I strive to foster a team culture built on trust, growth, and journalistic integrity.

Editing
My editing process combines careful attention to detail with big-picture thinking. I focus on refining clarity, structure, and accuracy while preserving the writer’s voice. Each glossy I leave is a signal that a story is ready to move forward—fact-checked, polished, and publication-ready. Whether I’m editing for content, grammar, or design flow, my goal is always to elevate the piece and support the reporter’s growth.

Team Building
Team building often comes down to the small, consistent actions that help a group function smoothly and feel supported. I contribute by keeping our section organized and on track—sending reminders in our group chat about deadlines, sharing spreadsheets to track story progress, and making sure everyone knows what’s expected each cycle. I also sign up to bring snacks or food to paste-up nights, helping create a positive, collaborative environment during our busiest hours. These efforts may seem simple, but they foster accountability, reduce stress, and strengthen the sense of community that keeps our newsroom running.
